It’s time to shatter the stigma surrounding survivors of Conflict Related Sexual Violence (CRSV)
Too often, survivors are burdened with shame and silence, when what they truly deserve is our empathy, understanding, and unwavering support.
Here’s how we can all play a role in creating a supportive environment:
- LISTEN WITHOUT JUDGMENT: Let’s create spaces where survivors feel safe to share their experiences without fear of being blamed or judged.
- BELIEVE AND VALIDATE: Believe survivors when they come forward with their stories. Validation can make a world of difference in their healing journey.
- EDUCATE OURSELVES: Knowledge is power. Let’s learn about the realities and effects of CRSV and the impact it has on survivors and communities. By understanding the issues, we can better advocate for change.
- BREAK THE SILENCE: Silence only worsens the stigma surrounding CRSV. Let’s speak up and challenge harmful attitudes and behaviours that contribute to the culture of silence.
Together, we can create a world where survivors of CRSV are met with compassion, acceptance, and support. Let’s stand in solidarity with survivors and work towards a future free from violence and stigma.
