Project: Building the capacities of CRSV responsible institutions and supporting CRSV survivors’ economic empowerment

Area/Outcome 3: Bee Delivery

Background

Supported by United Nation Mission in Kosovo – UNIMK, Medica Gjakova is in charge of implementing the project Building the capacities of CRSV responsible institutions and supporting CRSV survivors’ economic empowerment.

This multi-dimensional project seeks to support the empowerment and the rights of Conflict Related Sexual Violence (CRSV) survivors in two ways by:

(1) Supporting and enhancing the knowledge and skills of the competent institutions in providing professional services to CRSV survivors, and

(2) Promoting their employment rights and opportunities in sectors such as agriculture, food processing, handcraft, and tourism.

The objective of the project is to enhance the capacities of the staff in the responsible institutions (the Secretariat of the Commission for the Verification and Recognition of Sexual Violence Victim Status in Kosovo and the Regional Departments of Martyrs’ Families and War Invalids) so as to ensure their human rights-based approach (HRBA) and improve the livelihood opportunities for CRSV survivors, with their family members, promoting their equal rights and opportunities.

Information about the project

This project aims to address three identified problems. Of the estimated 20,000 potential survivors of conflict-related sexual violence (CRSV), only just over 1,000 have come forward. The mandate of the Regional Office of the relevant Department of Martyrs’ Families and War Invalids only runs until 2023, so there is a time pressure to ensure that the taboo of being a CRSV survivor is challenged and the maximum number of potential survivors are informed of the application process and deadline to apply for the CRSV status in order to get the assistance and recognition they require. After processing applications for the status of victim of war, it became evident that the staff in the Governmental Commission responsible for the approval of the status lacks the necessary stress and trauma sensitive approach towards CRSV survivors. It is also important to ensure CRSV survivors and their families’ equal rights and opportunities, and to protect and promote their social and economic rights, especially given the context of a more patriarchal society, as they contribute to the participation of women in the public spheres of life. By working with an experienced and leading NGO for CRSV survivors, Medica Gjakova, this project will address the aforementioned three identified problems through supporting and enhancing the knowledge and skills of the competent institutions in providing professional services to CRSV survivors and promoting the employment rights of CRSV survivors and opportunities in sectors such as agriculture, food processing, handcraft, and tourism.

In order to achieve the objectives of the project, we invite all economic operators to express their interest in the bid for the procurement activity (Bee supply).

For orientation: Medica Gjakova will deliver Bees to the beneficiaries of the project, so the request for offer is for Bee Delivery.
